Star midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai has caught the public’s eye for his fashion-forward choice of accessory—a $29,000 Rolex Yacht-Master watch—during a press conference ahead of the 2024-2025 ASEAN Club Championship final.
Hai, along with head coach Mano Polking, attended the pre-match event on Tuesday to represent Vietnam’s V.League club, Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN). The team is gearing up for a crucial first-leg showdown against Thai football giants Buriram United.
The 28-year-old midfielder turned heads with his shiny rose gold Rolex Yacht-Master, a timepiece that has garnered attention for its hefty price tag. As a well-known fashion enthusiast and luxury watch collector, Hai’s accessories are frequently a topic of conversation. His collection includes prestigious pieces from brands such as Cartier, Hublot, and Patek Philippe. Notably, Hai owns two Patek Philippe Nautilus watches, each valued at over $77,000.
During the press conference, Hai spoke about CAHN’s preparations and their ambitions for the final.
“Our goal is to gain an advantage in the first leg, especially with the support of our home crowd. We want to perform strongly and secure a positive result that will give us confidence heading into the second leg,” Hai said.
The match is set to be a fierce battle, with Buriram United entering the final as reigning champions of the Thai League. Their squad features notable stars, including Theerathon Bunmathan, former captain of the Thailand national team.
Hai emphasized the significance of the match, framing it as more than just a club rivalry.
“This is not just a match between two clubs; it’s a showdown between Vietnamese and Thai football. Representing Vietnam is a great honor, and we’ll give everything to win and bring the trophy home,” he said.
The first leg of the ASEAN Club Championship final will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi, with the second leg scheduled for May 21 in Thailand. CAHN previously defeated Buriram 2–1 during the group stage.
