Earlier this year, Oukitel introduced a rugged smartphone featuring a small detachable screen on its back that could be worn as a smartwatch or converted into a Bluetooth earpiece. Now, the company is expanding on this innovative concept with the launch of the Oukitel WP300, a new device boasting a larger battery and enhanced modular capabilities.
The WP300’s standout feature is its modular design: users can easily swap out the detachable screen module for a super-bright flashlight accessory. This slot on the phone’s back allows quick attachment and removal of either the “Modular Detachable HearWatch” or the “Modular Camping Light,” offering flexible use cases for different needs.
Like its predecessor, the WP200 Pro, the detachable screen module can function as a smartwatch or Bluetooth earpiece, supporting phone calls, notifications, and health tracking. The new camping light accessory can be worn on a headband to illuminate outdoor activities, further emphasizing the phone’s rugged, adventure-ready appeal. Users can interchange these modules on the fly, adapting the device to their preferences.
Though Oukitel has been sparse on technical details about the removable modules, the company confirms their Bluetooth functionality enables seamless connectivity for calls and notifications.
The WP300 features a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor paired with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. While its processor and memory are modest compared to some competitors, the phone compensates with a massive 16,000 mAh battery—nearly double that of the previous model—promising extended battery life even under heavy usage. It supports 45W fast charging and 18W reverse charging, allowing the phone to serve as a power bank for other devices.
The smartphone sports a large 6.8-inch 120 Hz display with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. Built for durability, the WP300 carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and meets MIL-STD-810H standards, operating reliably in temperatures from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius. Due to its sizable battery, the phone is notably thick, measuring 177.3 x 82.4 x 23.2 mm—thicker than many modern laptops.
Photography is handled by a 108MP Samsung S5KHM6SX03 primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 32MP Sony IMX616 front-facing camera. The phone supports dual nano SIM cards or a combination of one nano SIM and one microSD card slot expandable up to 2TB. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, WiFi 6, NFC, and GPS support.
Network compatibility is comprehensive, covering multiple GSM, WCDMA, TDD, FDD, and 5G bands to ensure global connectivity.
The Oukitel WP300 runs on the latest Android 15 operating system, though the company has not committed to future software updates. It is currently available for pre-order via a Kickstarter campaign starting at $399, with an anticipated retail price of $600 post-crowdfunding.
With its rugged build, versatile modular accessories, and extraordinary battery life, the WP300 is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and users who demand durability and flexibility in their mobile devices.
