Rolex has officially released its highly debated Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller, marking the brand’s first entirely new watch line in more than ten years. Initially introduced at this year’s Watches & Wonders event, the collection has polarized enthusiasts, with some praising its bold design and advanced movement, while others remain skeptical of its five- to six-figure price range. Three Models, Multiple Configurations
The Land-Dweller lineup consists of three primary versions, each offered in two sizes—resulting in a total of ten possible configurations. The first, the Land-Dweller 40 (also available as a 36mm variant), is crafted from Oystersteel and white gold, featuring a fluted bezel, a white honeycomb-patterned dial, and a Flat Jubilee bracelet. The second iteration, the Land-Dweller 36 (with a 40mm alternative), is constructed from 18kt rose gold and includes a similar dial design, now adorned with ten baguette-cut diamond hour markers and a bezel set with 44 trapeze-cut diamonds. The most exclusive of the trio is the platinum model, distinguished by its ice-blue honeycomb dial.
Cutting-Edge Movement with 32 Patents
Rolex has equipped the Land-Dweller with its new Calibre 7135 movement, a development that accounts for 16 of the 32 patents associated with the watch. An evolution of the Calibre 7140—previously used in the 1908 model—this self-winding mechanism operates at a high frequency of 5 Hz and boasts a 66-hour power reserve. Notably slim yet robust, the movement supports a date function alongside traditional hour, minute, and second displays.
Redesigned Bracelet Enhances Aesthetic Appeal
A standout feature of the Land-Dweller is its Flat Jubilee bracelet, a modern reinterpretation of the classic Jubilee design introduced with the Datejust in 1945. Engineered to integrate flawlessly with the Oyster case, the bracelet creates a seamless, fluid appearance, enhancing the watch’s overall elegance.
