Garmin India has announced a new extended warranty policy offering a 2-year warranty on select watch models purchased within the country. This policy applies to models launched in India after January 2024, including popular series such as the Forerunner 165, Fenix 8, Enduro 3, Instinct 3, and other future eligible releases.
Extended Warranty: Enhancing Value for Indian Consumers
The company emphasized that this extended warranty aims to boost the value proposition of Garmin watches sold in India and to encourage customers to buy through authorized retail channels. Garmin clarified that products purchased internationally or from unofficial online sources will only receive the standard 1-year warranty. Additionally, customers seeking warranty services for such imported products in India may be liable for import duties and Goods and Services Tax (GST), as per government regulations.
Addressing Issues of Mis-Sold and Non-Warranty Products
Garmin also responded to concerns regarding the sale of unused, refurbished, discontinued, or non-warranty products without transparent communication about warranty status. This practice has reportedly resulted in poor service experiences for some buyers.
Limited-Time Exchange Offer for Affected Customers
To remedy this, Garmin is launching a limited-time exchange program for customers affected by mis-sold watches. Eligible customers who provide a valid tax invoice can avail of a 50% discount on the Venu Sq 2 model or a 25% discount on other Garmin watches, subject to availability. This exclusive offer runs from June 1 to June 30, 2025.
Garmin strongly advises buyers to verify product availability and warranty status by consulting the official Garmin India website to avoid purchasing non-serviceable items.
Garmin reiterated that this program is designed to enhance customer satisfaction for those who may have purchased products ineligible for standard warranty coverage, even within the usual one-year warranty period.
