In April, Google confirmed the much-anticipated arrival of its AI-powered assistant, Gemini, to wearables. Now, Samsung has confirmed that its Galaxy Watch lineup and Galaxy Buds 3 series will soon receive Gemini support, though a specific launch date has yet to be announced.
The integration of Gemini into Samsung’s wearables is expected to roll out with the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update. While Samsung has not provided an exact date, the company has teased that the update will be available in the “coming months.”
How Gemini AI Will Function on Galaxy Devices
Once the update is available, Galaxy Watch users will benefit from full Gemini integration, which will effectively replace the Google Assistant. Users will be able to perform various tasks such as setting reminders, checking the weather, or having emails summarized—without the need to interact with their phone.
The Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, however, will function a little differently. Due to their limited storage and chipset capabilities, these earbuds won’t run the AI assistant natively. Instead, they will rely on the connected phone or watch to access Gemini features, allowing users to control the assistant through voice commands and pinch-and-hold gestures.
Expanding Gemini’s Reach to Other Models
While Samsung specifically mentioned the Galaxy Buds 3 series, there is hope among users that older models like the Galaxy Buds FE and Galaxy Buds 2 series may also receive Gemini integration in the future. For now, Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds users can look forward to more intelligent and hands-free interactions with their devices in the near future.
