Smart pet technology company Fi has unveiled its latest AI-driven dog collar, the Series 3 Plus, enabling owners to monitor their pet’s activity, health, and location directly from their Apple Watch. Launched on Monday, the upgraded collar introduces advanced behavior detection, seamless Apple Watch integration, and improved GPS accuracy over previous models.
AI Detects Behavioral Changes with 80% Accuracy
Fi claims the Series 3 Plus can identify significant shifts in a dog’s behavior—including barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking patterns—with 80% accuracy. Beyond standard step and sleep tracking, the collar analyzes long-term trends to alert owners of potential health concerns. While designed to promote proactive pet care, some experts caution that smart pet wearables may inadvertently heighten anxiety rather than ease it.
Enhanced GPS and Apple Watch Compatibility
The new model doubles GPS signal sensitivity for more precise location tracking, a critical feature for pet safety. Owners can now access real-time activity and location data through a dedicated Apple Watch app, mirroring the full functionality of Fi’s mobile platform. Additionally, an AI-powered document analysis tool scans veterinary records, insurance documents, and bills to consolidate health information in one place.
Familiar Features with Upgraded Durability
The Series 3 Plus retains key elements from earlier versions, including an IP68 waterproof rating (tested in up to 50 meters of saltwater), a three-month battery life, and a built-in LED light for nighttime visibility. Available in five sizes and four colors—yellow, blue, pink, and gray—the collar requires a subscription starting at $14 per month, with no upfront hardware costs.
Fi’s latest release underscores the growing demand for smart pet tech, though debates continue over its balance of convenience and potential over-monitoring. The Series 3 Plus is now available for purchase.
