Unboxing a new Samsung Galaxy Watch—whether it’s the latest Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, or an older model—is exciting, but before you can start tracking workouts or checking notifications, you’ll need to complete a few setup steps. Here’s how to get your smartwatch up and running smoothly.
Setting Up a Samsung Galaxy Watch with an Android Phone
Samsung’s newest smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Watch FE, are designed exclusively for Android phones—both Samsung and non-Samsung devices. Owners of Galaxy Watch 4, 5, or 6 can also follow these steps.
Download the Samsung Galaxy Wearable App
The Galaxy Wearable app is essential for pairing and managing your smartwatch.
- Open the Google Play Store and search for Samsung Galaxy Wearable.
- Samsung phone users may find the app pre-installed in a Samsung folder or the app tray.
Pair Your Galaxy Watch
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app and tap the device icon (two circles and squares).
- Press the + button to scan for nearby devices.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that your watch is powered on.
- Verify the passkey displayed on both devices matches, then confirm pairing.
Install Samsung Health (Optional but Recommended)
For fitness and health tracking:
- Download Samsung Health from the Google Play Store.
- Samsung phone users may already have it pre-installed as Samsung Health or Health.
Samsung Health Monitor (For ECG & Blood Pressure Features)
Exclusive to Samsung smartphones:
- Open the Galaxy Store and download Samsung Health Monitor.
- Follow the setup instructions (requires a SIM card and cellular connection for initial setup).
Setting Up a Samsung Galaxy Watch with an iPhone
Older models like the Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, and Watch Active 2 support iPhone pairing, but newer models do not.
Download the Samsung Galaxy Watch App
- Search for Samsung Galaxy Watch in the Apple App Store and install it.
- Open the app and tap “Start the Journey”.
Pair Your Watch
- Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone.
- Follow the in-app prompts to connect your watch.
