To commemorate six decades of pioneering dive watches, Seiko has unveiled three exclusive Prospex timepieces: the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch (SPB511), the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT (SPB509), and the Prospex Marinemaster Professional (SLA081). Each model blends Seiko’s storied history with cutting-edge advancements, catering to both collectors and professional divers.
SPB511 & SPB509: Reviving 1960s Classics
The SPB511 and SPB509 pay tribute to Seiko’s legendary 1960s dive watches, with the former mirroring the 1965 original and the latter drawing inspiration from the 1968 design. Both models retain their predecessors’ distinctive aesthetics while incorporating contemporary upgrades.
The SPB511 features a silver dial reminiscent of Seiko’s first dive watch, while the SPB509 boasts a deep blue dial with a wave pattern—a nod to the brand’s iconic “Great Wave” motif. Sized at 40mm and 42mm respectively, they offer a balanced fit, complemented by new stainless steel bracelets for enhanced comfort.
SLA081: A Professional-Grade Masterpiece
For extreme underwater adventures, the SLA081 stands out with 600-meter water resistance and a titanium case engineered for saturation diving. Its 45.4mm diameter and L-shaped seal eliminate the need for a helium escape valve, ensuring durability in high-pressure environments.
The watch features a DLC-coated stainless steel bezel, six times harder than standard materials, and a gradient blue dial that mimics the ocean’s depths. Luminescent indices are embedded directly into the dial for unwavering reliability, while a lacquer finish enhances visual depth.
Powered by the Caliber 8L45, the SLA081 delivers +10/-5 seconds daily accuracy, a 28,800vph frequency, and a 72-hour power reserve. Its optimized mainspring and shock-resistant construction ensure long-term performance.
With these releases, Seiko reaffirms its legacy as a leader in dive watch innovation, offering timepieces that honor the past while embracing the future.
