Apple is preparing to launch watchOS 12, the next major update for its wearable platform, during WWDC 2025 from June 9 to June 13. The update is anticipated to introduce AI-driven health insights, advanced fitness tracking, and new performance optimizations.
Which Apple Watch Models Will Support watchOS 12?
Apple typically provides five years of software updates for its smartwatches. Last year, watchOS 11 discontinued support for the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5.
If Apple follows the same pattern, the Apple Watch Series 6—released in 2020—may not receive watchOS 12, making watchOS 11 its final major update. Newer models, including the Apple Watch Series 7 and later, are expected to remain compatible.
watchOS 12 Release Schedule
The rollout will follow Apple’s usual beta testing phases:
Developer Beta: Available immediately after the WWDC 2025 keynote on June 9.
Public Beta: Expected in July 2025, requiring the iOS 19 beta on a paired iPhone.
Stable Release: Likely arriving in September or October alongside iOS 19’s official launch.
Users with older Apple Watch models may need to consider upgrading to access the latest features. Stay tuned for official confirmation from Apple during WWDC.
