Rolex has introduced the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller, a groundbreaking addition to its iconic collection, at this year’s Watches and Wonders exhibition. Combining cutting-edge innovation with a striking new design, the watch reaffirms Rolex’s mastery of precision engineering and timeless aesthetics.
Designed for those who “see opportunity in every moment,” the Land-Dweller embodies ambition and technical prowess. The timepiece features 32 patent applications, with 18 exclusive to this model and 16 related to its revolutionary movement.
Precision Redefined: The Calibre 7135
At its core lies the Calibre 7135, a high-frequency movement operating at 5 Hz, ensuring accuracy to one-tenth of a second. Innovations such as the “Dynapulse” escapement and an advanced oscillator enhance performance, while the movement’s efficiency delivers an impressive 66-hour power reserve.
Both the 40 mm and 36 mm versions of the Land-Dweller carry Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer certification, guaranteeing an accuracy of −2/+2 seconds per day.
A Modern Twist on Iconic Design
The watch debuts the Flat Jubilee bracelet, a reimagined version of Rolex’s classic five-link design. Featuring flat, polished centre links, it seamlessly integrates with the Oyster case, enhanced by a combination of satin and polished finishes. Ceramic inserts ensure durability, reinforcing Rolex’s commitment to longevity.
Visually, the Land-Dweller draws inspiration from the rare 1975 Rolex DateJust (Ref. 1630), with a fluted bezel and an intricate honeycomb dial pattern. The 6 and 9 numerals—inspired by the Explorer and Air-King—boast an open-centre design, while luminescent markers ensure legibility in all conditions. A subtle yet distinctive touch is the seconds hand counterweight, echoing the dial’s honeycomb motif.
Three Striking Variations
The Land-Dweller is available in three exclusive editions:
40 mm White Rolesor: Features a fluted bezel and a crisp white honeycomb dial.
36 mm Everose Gold: Set with diamond indices and a bezel adorned with 44 trapeze-cut diamonds.
40 mm Platinum: Showcases an ice-blue dial, a signature hue reserved for Rolex’s most prestigious models.
Built for Adventure
Beyond its refined aesthetics, the Land-Dweller is engineered for real-world durability. The Oyster case is waterproof to 100 meters (330 ft), safeguarding its precision movement. A sapphire case back—rare in Rolex’s classic lineup—offers a glimpse of the meticulously finished Calibre 7135, complete with Geneva stripes and a gold oscillating weight.
With its fusion of innovation, elegance, and robustness, the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller marks a new milestone in Rolex’s storied legacy.
