Huckberry has teamed up with Citizen for a refreshed take on the underrated Promaster Tough field watch, delivering subtle yet effective design tweaks that enhance an already impressive timepiece.
Originally launched in 2023, the Promaster Tough stands out as an unexpected contender in the field watch category. Huckberry’s latest collaboration retains the core strengths of the original while introducing minor refinements that improve legibility and aesthetics.
A Lightweight Titanium Powerhouse
The watch’s standout feature is its use of Citizen’s proprietary Super Titanium, making it exceptionally lightweight—almost plastic-like on the wrist. The material, used for both the case and bracelet, ensures durability without sacrificing comfort.
Huckberry’s design team opted for a restrained approach, preserving the watch’s functional elements: large lume-coated hour markers, bold hands with segmented lume, and a practical date window at three o’clock. The only visible branding is a discreet tree logo etched on the case back.
Vintage Touches and Thoughtful Updates
Two key changes distinguish Huckberry’s version: an olive-drab dial with a grainy texture and outlined hour markers, replacing the original solid ones. These tweaks add subtle vintage military flair without overwhelming the watch’s clean design.
The collaboration draws inspiration from Citizen’s past titanium models, including limited editions for Yellowstone National Park and the British Royal Marines.
More Than Just a Watch
The package includes a functional hard case and an olive-drab watch roll—likely a synthetic leather and suede hybrid—adding exceptional value for a sub-$1,000 timepiece.
Priced $50 below Citizen’s MSRP, Huckberry’s Promaster Tough reinforces its reputation as one of the best affordable field watches on the market.
