Dungeons & Dragons players often amass collections of physical dice, but the Timestop D-20 introduces a new twist—a digital watch designed specifically for tabletop gaming. Beyond standard timekeeping functions, this wearable allows players to roll virtual dice with just the press of a button, eliminating the need for a separate dice bag.
The watch supports rolls for 4-, 6-, 8-, 10-, 12-, 20-, and even 100-sided dice, catering to all the randomization needs of a typical D&D session. It also includes “Advanced Combat” features, such as rolling up to 12 dice simultaneously and handling advantage or disadvantage rolls—a core mechanic in D&D where players take the higher or lower result of two D20 rolls. Special icons light up for critical failures (rolling a 1) or critical successes (rolling a 20), adding a touch of excitement to gameplay.
Designed for Both Gaming and Everyday Wear
Timestop aimed for a balance between playful functionality and professional aesthetics. “We wanted fun animations for rolls but kept the overall design subdued so players could wear it anywhere, even at the office,” the company explained in a blog post detailing the watch’s development. Practical features like a perpetual calendar, day and date displays, and water resistance ensure it remains a functional timepiece beyond gaming sessions.
Priced at $99, the Timestop D-20 comes in three color options: black, orange, and stainless steel. Preorders are now open, with shipments expected to begin in January or February of next year.
No Alarm—Because “Alarms Aren’t Fun”
One notable omission is an alarm function, which the creators dismissed as “not fun.” However, the watch compensates with a backlit LCD display, a replaceable coin cell battery (lasting up to three years with typical use), and water resistance. While “typical use” might not account for endless fireball spells, the Timestop D-20 offers a novel alternative to traditional dice and mobile apps—bringing a bit of magic to every roll.
