Apple’s forthcoming iOS 19 update will bring a sweeping design overhaul not only to the iPhone but also extend to Apple Watch, Apple TV, and the Vision Pro headset, according to a new report. This move aims to create a more cohesive and seamless user experience across the company’s entire device ecosystem.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, writing in his Sunday Power On newsletter, revealed that both tvOS and watchOS will be redesigned to align visually with the more established iOS, macOS, and iPadOS platforms. Meanwhile, visionOS—the operating system powering Apple’s Vision Pro headset—will receive selective adjustments where headset-specific improvements make sense. Gurman emphasized the scale of this update, noting that while iOS 7’s 2013 redesign was the most significant for the iPhone, the latest iOS 19 refresh will impact a much broader range of Apple devices.
Leaks suggest iOS 19 will adopt a sleek, glass-like aesthetic similar to visionOS, featuring rounder “squircle” app icons and redesigned system apps. Even the Camera app is expected to see changes, with controls repositioned toward the bottom of the screen for improved accessibility. This new visual language is anticipated to extend to iPadOS 19 and macOS 16, offering a modernized interface without steep learning curves for users.
Alongside the UI enhancements, Apple plans to refine visionOS with targeted tweaks rather than radical redesigns, preserving its headset-specific usability.
In addition to design updates, Apple is reportedly preparing a major AI initiative: opening its large language models (LLMs) to third-party developers. This integration would empower app creators to build more advanced, AI-driven experiences on Apple platforms, potentially helping iOS apps stand out amid fierce competition. Although Apple has lagged behind rivals in AI development, this move could mark a pivotal step forward.
All these announcements are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, which begins with a keynote on June 9. There, the company will showcase new versions of its operating systems and outline its vision for the future of its device ecosystem.
