Huawei has expanded its Watch Fit 4 lineup with the introduction of the Watch Fit 4 Pro, marking the first time the series includes a Pro model. While the standard Watch Fit 4 offers incremental improvements over its predecessor, the Pro version takes a significant leap forward in design, materials, and health tracking capabilities.
Design and Display
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro impresses with a sleek, compact design reminiscent of a mini Apple Watch Ultra, but at a fraction of the price. Constructed from titanium and aerospace-grade aluminum, the device weighs just 30.4 grams, making it both lightweight and durable. At only 9.3 mm thick—thinner than an Oreo cookie—the Fit 4 Pro is Huawei’s slimmest Fit model to date.
Its standout feature is the vibrant 1.82-inch AMOLED display, boasting a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, which ensures excellent visibility even under direct sunlight. This brightness surpasses that of the Apple Watch Series 9’s 45mm model by 33%, while offering a higher pixel density for sharper images.
Advanced Health Monitoring
Equipped with Huawei’s TruSense System, the Watch Fit 4 Pro includes upgraded sensors and new algorithms capable of tracking 60 health indicators across six body systems. It offers comprehensive health features such as ECG, arterial stiffness detection, blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, sleep analysis, and temperature measurement.
Additionally, the Pro model supports over 100 sports modes, including specialized tracking for golf—with access to over 1,500 golf courses—and deep-sea diving modes. The device also features offline maps with contour lines and leverages Huawei’s reliable Sunflower GPS for precise location tracking.
Comfort and Customization
Available in Black, Blue, and Green, the Green variant comes with a nylon woven strap, while the Black and Blue versions include fluoroelastomer straps with traditional clasps. Users have the flexibility to swap straps to suit their style or activity. Notably, the Pro’s digital crown operates smoothly without snagging arm hair, a small but appreciated comfort feature.
Software and Battery Life
Running HarmonyOS 5.1, the Watch Fit 4 Pro pairs easily with both Android and iOS devices via the Huawei Health app. The straightforward setup involves scanning a QR code and following on-screen instructions.
Its 400 mAh battery delivers up to seven days of regular use, with conservative usage extending battery life to ten days or more. In testing, the watch lasted around ten days with 29% charge remaining. Charging speeds are efficient: a 20-minute charge restores about 35% battery, and a full charge is achieved within just over an hour.
Verdict
The Watch Fit 4 Pro offers a compelling package that combines robust health monitoring, durable premium materials, and a bright, high-resolution display—all at a competitive price point. While it lacks some features found in higher-end smartwatches, such as mobile payments, voice assistants, and extensive third-party app support, these omissions do not detract significantly from the overall value.
The standard Watch Fit 4 remains an excellent choice for users seeking an affordable fitness tracker with solid battery life, while the Pro model is geared towards those wanting advanced health features and a more refined build.
Availability and Pricing
Huawei’s Watch Fit 4 series will be available in South Africa from June 2. The Watch Fit 4 will be offered in Black, Grey, Purple, and White, priced at R2,999. The Watch Fit 4 Pro will retail for R4,999 and is available in Black, Blue, Green, and Grey variants.
With this launch, Huawei reinforces its position in the wearable market by providing feature-rich devices that balance performance, style, and affordability.
