An illegal immigrant has been convicted for his pivotal role in a multi-county burglary ring responsible for stealing over $1.6 million in Rolex watches across Florida, authorities announced Friday.
Jonny Pinzon Rios, a Colombian national residing illegally in the United States, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit racketeering and two counts of dealing in stolen property, according to a statement from Attorney General James Uthmeier’s office.
The criminal enterprise, composed primarily of other undocumented immigrants, systematically targeted Floridian homes in Hillsborough, Polk, Pasco, Pinellas, and Collier counties, stealing valuable Rolex watches to resell on the black market. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the theft ring’s haul exceeded $1.6 million in stolen goods.
“We do not tolerate theft in Florida, and we will continue to work with the Trump administration to get these criminals out of our state and nation,” Uthmeier said in the release.
Rios is currently awaiting deportation and faces a potential prison sentence of up to 60 years for his crimes.
Authorities continue to crack down on similar criminal activity, reinforcing their commitment to protecting residents and upholding the rule of law throughout the state.
