Horage, a Swiss-based engineering company, is making waves in the horology world with its latest innovation—an advanced, affordable alternative to the iconic Rolex Milgauss. Priced at approximately CHF 2,500 (£2,200), the new DecaFlux watch features the in-house K3 Calibre, a high-performance automatic movement that rivals components typically found in timepieces costing significantly more.
A Breakthrough in Watchmaking Technology
The K3 Calibre is Horage’s fifth proprietary movement in just 15 years, showcasing the brand’s rapid ascent in precision engineering. What sets it apart is its silicon escapement, including the pallet fork, balance wheel, and hairspring. This material choice enhances durability, reduces weight, and ensures resistance to magnetic interference—a critical feature for mechanical watches.
Thanks to its optimized efficiency, the movement delivers an impressive four-day power reserve, eliminating the need for frequent winding. Silicon’s anti-corrosive properties further ensure long-term reliability.
A Nod to Rolex’s Cult Classic
The DecaFlux bears a striking resemblance to the Rolex Milgauss, a beloved model discontinued in 2023. Originally launched in 1954, the Milgauss was renowned for its ability to withstand magnetic fields up to 1,000 gauss, making it a favorite among scientists, including those at CERN.
Horage pays homage to the Milgauss with its lightning-bolt seconds hand, now rendered in blue and red—symbolizing the polar ends of a magnet. This design detail, paired with dial options in black or sunray blue, ensures instant recognition while emphasizing the watch’s anti-magnetic capabilities.
