This year’s Watches and Wonders exhibition reaffirmed its status as the premier event in the horology calendar, attracting 60 distinguished brands, including newcomers such as Roman luxury house Bvlgari and six independent watchmakers, notably Christiaan van der Klaauw. Over the course of a week in early April, the fair welcomed 55,000 visitors—a 12 percent increase from the previous year—underscoring the continued vitality of the fine watch industry despite a backdrop of global uncertainty.
Among the standout showcases was Patek Philippe, which presented three remarkable new models demonstrating the brand’s mastery of both technical complexity and refined design: the Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G-001, the Calatrava 8 Days Ref. 5328G-001, and the Calatrava Ref. 6196P.
Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G-001
Building on the limited-edition launch of the Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308P-010 at the 2023 Tokyo Watch Art Grand Exhibition, Patek Philippe has now introduced the Ref. 5308G-001 as a permanent addition to its collection. Encased in 42mm white gold with an ice-blue sunburst dial, this sophisticated timepiece features four key complications: a minute repeater, an instantaneous perpetual calendar, and a split-seconds chronograph.
The self-winding R CHR 27 PS QI caliber powering the watch was developed specifically to integrate the split-seconds function seamlessly into the chronograph mechanism and incorporates two patented innovations. As one of Patek Philippe’s most intricate offerings, the Ref. 5308G-001 exemplifies technical prowess and horological artistry.
Calatrava 8 Days Ref. 5328G-001
The new Calatrava 8 Days Ref. 5328G-001 offers a harmonious blend of functionality and elegance in a 41mm white gold case. Its deep blue textured dial presents instantaneous day and date displays alongside a power reserve indicator tracking the impressive eight-day energy reserve.
Notably, the power reserve arc features nine segments: while the watch continues running on the ninth day, its precision gradually diminishes as the amplitude decreases, highlighting the meticulous engineering behind its timekeeping performance.
Calatrava Ref. 6196P
Demonstrating that simplicity is equally challenging to perfect, Patek Philippe’s Calatrava Ref. 6196P embodies classic dress watch aesthetics with a contemporary twist. The 38mm platinum case is paired with an opaline rose-gilt dial and a luxurious chocolate-brown alligator strap.
Subtle yet striking, the hour markers and hands are crafted from white gold with an anthracite coating, lending a modern industrial edge to the otherwise understated design. This model houses the hand-wound caliber 30-255 PS, delivering a robust 65-hour power reserve.
As Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 closes, Patek Philippe’s new releases highlight the brand’s unwavering commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance, reaffirming its leadership in the luxury watch sector.
