Patek Philippe Discontinues Key Models Ahead of Watches & Wonders 2025

by jingji41

Geneva-based luxury watchmaker Patek Philippe has quietly removed approximately a dozen models from its catalog in preparation for its Watches & Wonders 2025 releases. This follows the brand’s February 2024 discontinuations, maintaining its tradition of refreshing collections ahead of the annual showcase.

Aquanaut Line Loses Steel Bracelet Icon

The most notable departure is the Aquanaut Ref. 5167/1A-001, the steel-bracelet variant of the brand’s entry-level sports watch. Introduced in 2008 to complement the rubber-strapped 5167 (launched in 2007 for the Aquanaut’s 10th anniversary), this 40.8mm model initially housed the Caliber 315 S C before upgrading to the 26-330 S C with stop-seconds functionality. While less common than its tropical-strap counterpart—which remains in production—its discontinuation marks the end of an era for collectors.

Nautilus Collection Shrinks Further

The Nautilus Ref. 5712/1A, a cornerstone of the line since 2006, has also been axed. Celebrating the collection’s 30th anniversary, this 40mm stainless steel model featured a complex asymmetrical dial displaying time, moon phases, power reserve, and small seconds. Its discontinuation leaves only two steel men’s Nautilus references (5726A and 5726/1A) in the lineup.

For women, Patek dropped two versions of the Ladies’ Nautilus 7118: the diamond-free 7118/1A-010 with a silvery opaline dial (added in 2017) and the diamond-bezel 7118-1200A-010. Both shared the 35.2mm case and Caliber 324 S C movement.

Rare “Iced-Out” Nautilus Exits

The ultra-luxurious Nautilus 5719/10G-010, a white gold model encrusted with 1,343 diamonds, is no longer listed. Favored by celebrities like Drake and Kylie Jenner, its limited production and high-profile wearers made it a grail piece. The status of its rose gold counterpart (5719/10R) remains unclear, as it was never publicly cataloged.

Industry Implications

These cuts signal Patek Philippe’s strategic shift toward new designs, likely to debut at Watches & Wonders 2025. Collectors should expect rising secondary-market prices for discontinued models, particularly the 5712/1A and 5167/1A-001.
