Breguet Unveils Two Exclusive Watches for 250th Anniversary

by jingji41

To celebrate its 250th anniversary, Breguet has introduced two exceptional timepieces that pay homage to its rich heritage—the Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde and the Classique Souscription. Both models are crafted in the brand’s proprietary Breguet gold alloy and feature commemorative engravings, with limited production enhancing their exclusivity.

Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde: A Showcase of Mechanical Artistry

The Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde stands out with its 38mm case made entirely of Breguet gold, a unique alloy blending gold, silver, copper, and palladium. The watch features a fluted middle case and polished surfaces, topped with a domed sapphire crystal engraved with “BREGUET 250 YEARS.”

True to the Tradition collection’s design ethos, the open dial reveals intricate movement details, including blued screws, ruby bearings, and bridges finished in matching Breguet gold. A translucent blue grand feu enamel dial at 12 o’clock showcases a guilloché Quai de l’Horloge motif, referencing Breguet’s historic Paris workshop. A retrograde seconds hand arcs between 10 and 11 o’clock, complemented by fleur-de-lys minute markers and silver Breguet numerals.

Powered by the automatic Caliber 505SR with a 50-hour power reserve, the movement includes a Nivachron™ balance spring and a platinum crescent-shaped rotor visible through the caseback. The watch comes on a navy blue alligator strap with a Breguet gold buckle and is presented in a red leather box inspired by 18th-century Moroccan cases. Limited to 250 pieces, it is priced at $51,200.

Classique Souscription: A Nod to Breguet’s Origins

The Classique Souscription revives an 18th-century concept by Abraham-Louis Breguet—subscription watches, which were funded through pre-orders. The modern reinterpretation features a 40mm case in Breguet gold, with a satin-brushed caseband and curved lugs for improved wearability.

The white grand feu enamel dial is minimalist, with a single blued steel Breguet hand pointing to black petit feu enamel numerals and a railway minute track. Discreet inscriptions, including “Souscription” and a unique serial number, appear subtly on the dial.

Inside, the manually wound Caliber VS00 boasts a four-day power reserve and a guilloché Quai de l’Horloge pattern. The movement includes a Nivachron™ balance spring with a Breguet overcoil, ensuring precision. The watch is paired with a navy blue alligator strap and presented in a red Moroccan-style leather box. Priced at CHF 45,000, it is not a limited edition but remains highly exclusive.

More Anniversary Releases Expected

With the year still unfolding, Breguet is likely to introduce additional commemorative models, possibly including tourbillons—a signature invention of the brand. Watch enthusiasts can anticipate further tributes to Breguet’s 250-year legacy.
