To celebrate its 250th anniversary, Breguet has introduced two exceptional timepieces that pay homage to its storied past—the Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde and the Classique Souscription. Both models are crafted in the brand’s proprietary Breguet gold alloy and feature special engravings marking the milestone.
Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde: A Modern Tribute to Horological Craftsmanship
The Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde showcases Breguet’s signature open-dial design, revealing intricate movement details such as blued screws, ruby bearings, and gold-finished bridges. Housed in a 38mm case made entirely of Breguet gold—a blend of gold, silver, copper, and palladium—the watch features a domed sapphire crystal engraved with “BREGUET 250 YEARS.”
At the heart of the dial is a translucent blue grand feu enamel subdial at 12 o’clock, adorned with a guilloché Quai de l’Horloge motif, a nod to Breguet’s historic Paris workshop. A retrograde seconds hand arcs between 10 and 11 o’clock, complemented by fleur-de-lys minute markers and silver Breguet numerals.
Powered by the automatic Caliber 505SR, the watch operates at 3 Hz with a 50-hour power reserve. It includes a Nivachron™ balance spring and a platinum crescent-shaped rotor visible through the caseback. Limited to 250 pieces, the Tradition 7035 Seconde Rétrograde is priced at $51,200 and comes with a navy blue alligator strap and a red leather presentation box.
Classique Souscription: Reviving a Historic Concept
The Classique Souscription revives an 18th-century idea by Abraham-Louis Breguet—a subscription-based timepiece designed for simplicity and elegance. The modern reinterpretation features a 40mm case in Breguet gold with satin-brushed casebands and curved lugs for improved wearability.
The white grand feu enamel dial is minimalist, displaying only a single blued steel Breguet hand pointing to black enamel numerals and a railway minute track. Hidden inscriptions, including “Souscription” and a unique serial number, appear subtly on the dial.
Inside beats the manually wound Caliber VS00, offering a four-day power reserve and a 3 Hz frequency. The movement features a new guilloché pattern inspired by Breguet’s original designs, along with a Nivachron™ balance spring for enhanced precision.
Unlike the Tradition 7035, the Classique Souscription is not a limited edition but carries a price tag of CHF 45,000. It comes on a navy blue alligator strap and is presented in a red Moroccan-style leather box.
More Anniversary Releases Expected in 2025
With the year still unfolding, Breguet is expected to introduce additional models celebrating its 250-year legacy. Given the brand’s history, a tourbillon release would not be surprising. Stay tuned for further updates on Breguet’s 2025 lineup.
