TAG Heuer has introduced three new models to its iconic Monaco collection, just in time for the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500 racing events. The releases—Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch, Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph, and Monaco Chronograph x Gulf—mark a significant moment for the brand, which was recently named the first-ever title partner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco.
A Milestone in Motorsport History
The announcement, made ahead of the first practice session, underscores TAG Heuer’s deep ties to motorsport. Earlier this year, the Swiss watchmaker reclaimed its role as the official timekeeper of Formula 1, following a major deal between the racing organization and TAG Heuer’s parent company, LVMH. This move not only revived the brand’s historic connection to racing but also ended Rolex’s tenure as the previous title holder.
Beyond timekeeping, TAG Heuer’s new title partnership with the Monaco Grand Prix represents a historic first. While the brand had previously served as the event’s official watch partner, the LVMH alliance has paved the way for deeper integration.
Three Watches, Three Stories
Each of the new Monaco models pays tribute to different facets of horological and racing heritage:
- The Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch honors the original 1969 design, recalling an era when Heuer stopwatches were essential tools for race officials.
- The Monaco Chronograph x Gulf nods to Steve McQueen’s legendary appearance in the 1971 film Le Mans, reinforcing the watch’s pop culture legacy.
- The Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph showcases high-end watchmaking, featuring a sophisticated split-seconds mechanism for precision timing.
With these releases, TAG Heuer reaffirms the Monaco’s status as one of its most versatile and storied timepieces—just as the racing world prepares for one of its most glamorous weekends.
