Rado has introduced the Captain Cook Over-Pole, a refreshed iteration of its 2022 reissue, blending vintage inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship. The new model features a black high-tech ceramic bezel, a yellow gold PVD-coated stainless steel case, and the calibre R862 Worldtimer movement, offering an 80-hour power reserve. Priced at AUD$4,700, the watch will be available in boutiques and online from May 2025.
A Nod to History with Modern Refinements
The 2025 Captain Cook Over-Pole builds upon the 2022 revival, which first introduced the manual-winding R862 Worldtimer movement. While the earlier model measured 37mm, the latest version expands to 39mm, enhancing wrist presence while maintaining a slim 10.9mm profile. The absence of a counterweight winder allows for a slimmer case, improving wearability without sacrificing performance.
Striking Aesthetic and Functional Details
The watch’s bidirectional ceramic bezel contrasts elegantly with the gold PVD-coated case, while the silver sunray dial adds vintage appeal. The Worldtimer function, a standout feature, displays major cities laser-engraved onto the bezel, allowing wearers to track multiple time zones. Gold-toned indexes and light-green luminescent accents enhance legibility, complemented by vintage-white Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility.
A ruby-set anchor logo at 12 o’clock and an exhibition caseback showcasing the decorated R862 movement—complete with Côtes-de-Genève finishing and annealed blue screws—round out the refined design.
