Four years after Daniel Craig’s final James Bond outing in No Time to Die, the search for his successor continues—and Aaron Taylor-Johnson has emerged as a frontrunner. The British actor, known for films like Kick-Ass and Nocturnal Animals, was recently announced as Omega’s newest global ambassador, intensifying speculation that he may inherit the iconic 007 role.
During a visit to Omega’s headquarters in Biel, Switzerland, Taylor-Johnson explored the brand’s watchmaking heritage, expressing admiration for its craftsmanship. “I’ve always appreciated Omega,” he said. “Now, after visiting the factory, I’m in awe of the skill behind such a luxurious product.”
The actor also revealed a personal connection to the brand: “My interest in watches began with my dad, who saved his earnings as a working-class man to buy an Omega.” His appointment aligns with Omega’s long-standing partnership with the Bond franchise, further hinting at a potential casting decision.
A Legacy of Omega and Bond
Since 1995’s GoldenEye, Omega’s Seamaster has been synonymous with 007. Pierce Brosnan’s debut as Bond featured the Quartz Professional ref. 2541.80, establishing the blueprint for future Bond watches. The Seamaster 300 Professional Chronometer ref. 2531.80, with its bold skeletonized hands and lollipop seconds hand, became a fan favorite.
Daniel Craig’s tenure introduced modern twists, from the rugged Planet Ocean 600M in Casino Royale to the gadget-equipped Seamaster 300 Spectre Edition. Notably, Craig collaborated on the latter’s design, opting for Grade 2 titanium—a material also used in Omega’s Apollo 11 anniversary Speedmaster.
What’s Next for Bond?
With Taylor-Johnson now tied to Omega, the pieces seem to be falling into place. While no official announcement has been made, his ambassadorship—coupled with his rising star power—positions him as a strong contender. As the world waits for confirmation, one thing is certain: Omega’s legacy with Bond remains as timeless as ever.
