Apple has quietly removed several watch face options in its latest watchOS 11 update, according to user reports on Reddit. Among the discontinued designs are the Fire/Water, Gradient, Liquid Metal, Vapor, and Toy Story faces.
The company has a history of phasing out certain watch faces with new software releases, making the removal unsurprising to longtime users. While Apple has not provided an official explanation, speculation suggests these faces may have seen lower usage rates compared to others.
Some Users Express Disappointment Over Missing Favorites
Several Apple Watch owners have taken to online forums to voice their frustration about the removal, particularly of the animated Liquid Metal and nostalgic Toy Story faces. “The Toy Story face was my daily driver – it added personality to my watch,” wrote one Reddit user. Others noted that the Fire/Water face was popular for its dynamic, nature-inspired visuals.
Notably, watchOS 11 does not introduce new watch faces but offers refreshed design options for existing ones, including Liquid Glass-inspired aesthetics. The update continues Apple’s pattern of refining its wearable interface while streamlining less popular features.
Users who previously relied on the removed faces will need to transition to alternative designs available in the current watchOS version. Apple has yet to comment on whether any of the discontinued options might return in future updates.
