Panerai has unveiled the latest evolution of its iconic Luminor Marina at Watches and Wonders 2025, celebrating the model’s deep-rooted heritage tied to the Italian Navy. The new generation introduces titanium and steel executions, now water-resistant to 500 meters for the first time, and powered by the brand’s new Caliber P.980. While retaining the signature aesthetics, reliability, and functionality, the updated collection incorporates subtle refinements and technical advancements.
Key Upgrades and Design Details
The Luminor Marina maintains its defining elements—such as the safety lock system and sandwich-style luminous dial—but introduces modern enhancements. The dial now features an enlarged, beveled date window, and Panerai has integrated Super-LumiNova X2 into its core collection for the first time, delivering brighter luminosity.
At the heart of the series is the new P.980 caliber, a self-winding movement with a three-day power reserve and a 4 Hz frequency. Engineered for precision, it includes a traversing balance bridge for improved stability and a stop-second function for accurate time-setting. The movement has undergone six-position testing to ensure chronometric reliability.
Thanks to the slimmer 4.2 mm profile of the P.980, the 44 mm case has been reduced in height by 12%, maintaining its bold presence while improving wearability.
Luminor Marina Titanio: A Nod to Military Heritage
The Luminor Marina Titanio (PAM003325) features a brushed Grade 5 titanium case paired with an olive green sun-ray dial, a subtle homage to Panerai’s naval origins. Titanium, a material long favored by the brand for its corrosion and wear resistance, was first used in the 1980s Millemetri prototype and later reintroduced in the 1998 Submersible PAM00025 for its durability in marine environments.
The watch comes with a dark green Scamosciato calf strap and a matching rubber strap, priced at $9,700 (excluding taxes).
Luminor Marina: Robust Steel Variants with Modern Touches
The stainless steel Luminor Marina lineup, crafted from AISI 316LVM – 1.4441 alloy, offers exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. The alloy—composed of iron, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum—undergoes vacuum arc remelting for enhanced purity.
