Rolex has once again captured the attention of watch enthusiasts with the debut of two new GMT-Master II models at Watches & Wonders 2025. The latest iterations of the iconic traveler’s watch feature the striking grey and black Cerachrom bezel introduced last year, but with a notable twist—buyers can now choose between the sporty Oyster bracelet or the elegant Jubilee bracelet.
For decades, the GMT-Master line has been a cornerstone of Rolex’s catalog, producing legendary references such as the “Batman” and “Pepsi.” While the 2025 updates are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, they reinforce the brand’s commitment to blending tradition with contemporary appeal.
“The GMT-Master II is the ultimate cosmopolitan watch,” Rolex stated in a press release, emphasizing its legacy as the successor to the original 1955 GMT-Master, designed for globetrotting professionals.
Classic Design Meets Modern Craftsmanship
The new models pay homage to their predecessors with subtle yet meaningful details. The black lacquered dial features the “GMT-Master II” inscription in Rolex’s signature green, complemented by a green-tipped 24-hour hand. The 40mm Oystersteel case—crafted from corrosion-resistant 904L steel—ensures the watch remains a natural fit within the Rolex family.
Beneath the surface, the timepieces are powered by the in-house Caliber 3285, a self-winding movement first introduced in 2018. Known for its Chronergy escapement and Parachrom hairspring, the movement delivers precision and a robust 70-hour power reserve.
A Choice of Bracelets—And a Race to Secure One
What sets these releases apart is the option between the rugged Oyster bracelet or the refined Jubilee, offering collectors greater personalization. Priced at 10,400 CHF, both versions will be available at Rolex boutiques, though demand is expected to far outstrip supply.
While the new GMT-Master II models may not rewrite the rulebook, they underscore Rolex’s ability to refine a classic—proving that sometimes, the most compelling innovations are those that honor the past while moving confidently forward.
