Huawei has unveiled four new smartwatches, reinforcing its commitment to the wearable technology market. The lineup features the Huawei Watch 5 in two sizes, alongside the Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro, following the earlier launch of the Watch GT 5, GT 5 Pro, and Watch Ultimate in late 2024.
Huawei Watch 5: A Mid-Range Powerhouse
For the first time, Huawei offers the Watch 5 in 42mm and 46mm variants, catering to different wrist sizes. The 42mm model features a stainless steel case and a 1.38-inch display, while the 46mm version boasts a titanium build and a 1.5-inch screen. Both models are protected by spherical sapphire crystal and come in eight color options, including purple, gold, green, white, black, and silver.
Running on HarmonyOS instead of Wear OS, the Watch 5 introduces X Tap technology, utilizing a pressure-sensitive side button with ECG and heart rate sensors for enhanced health monitoring. A one-tap Health Glance feature delivers 10 health metrics in just three seconds. Additional upgrades include faster SpO₂ readings, 24/7 HRV tracking, 100 workout modes, free diving support, and offline color maps.
With Wi-Fi 6 and eSIM connectivity, the Watch 5 offers three to four days of battery life in standard mode, extending to 12 days in Battery Saver mode. Pricing starts at £400 (~$530), though Huawei smartwatches remain unavailable in the U.S.
Huawei Watch Fit 4 & Fit 4 Pro: Sleek and Feature-Packed
Designed to compete with the Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2, the Watch Fit 4 and Fit 4 Pro feature a 1.82-inch rectangular AMOLED display. The Fit 4 Pro enhances durability with a sapphire crystal screen, titanium bezel, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, compared to the standard Fit 4’s 2,000 nits.
Both models are impressively thin, with the Fit 4 Pro measuring 9.3mm thick (32g) and the Fit 4 at 9.5mm (27g). The Fit 4 comes in green, purple, white, black, and grey, while the Pro variant offers blue, black, and green options.
New additions include a barometer, depth sensor (supporting dives up to 40m), 3D golf course maps, trail running checkpoints, and running form analysis. Battery life reaches seven days in normal use and up to 10 days with power-saving adjustments.
The Watch Fit 4 starts at £150 (~332). Both series are compatible with Android and iOS via the Huawei Health app, ensuring broad accessibility.
Huawei’s latest wearables emphasize advanced health tracking, premium materials, and extended battery life, positioning the brand as a strong contender in the global smartwatch market.
