Swatch and Blancpain have once again joined forces, this time with the Green Abyss, a striking addition to their Fifty Fathoms Scuba collection. While earlier models like Ocean of Storms and Blue Lagoon gained steady popularity, this new release is already being hailed as the most refined of the collaboration.
A Bold Design with Military Roots
The Green Abyss features a deep green bioceramic case and bezel, accented by a black resin insert. A subtle but distinctive touch is the sandy beige water contact indicator at 6 o’clock—a nod to Blancpain’s 1950s MIL-SPEC dive watches, which used the feature to detect moisture. The vintage-style Super-LumiNova lume enhances its retro military aesthetic, making it both functional and visually striking.
Precision Meets Sustainability
Inside, the watch is powered by Swatch’s SISTEM51 movement—a self-winding mechanical caliber with a 90-hour power reserve and anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring. The caseback reveals a digitally printed Felimare picta, a colorful sea slug that ties into the Fifty Fathoms’ ocean-inspired theme.
Further emphasizing sustainability, the strap is made from recycled fishing nets, matching the watch’s green-and-black color scheme.
Limited Availability and Pricing
Priced at $400 in the U.S. and £350 in the U.K., the Green Abyss is positioned as a premium Swatch offering. It will be available starting June 7 in select Swatch stores, with a one-per-customer limit in place. Early reactions suggest this model could become the most sought-after of the Blancpain x Swatch partnership yet.
With its blend of heritage, innovation, and eco-conscious design, the Green Abyss proves that Swatch and Blancpain have found their stride—and this might just be their best collaboration to date.
